About Us

Our versatile team of Landscapers are experienced in constructing gardens that compliment all existing properties and landscapes around Cumbria. Difficult sites are a welcome challenge to the Wildroof team: steep banks, boggy ground, over-grown wilderness and poor access. There’s no garden we can’t transform.

We offer our landscaping services throughout Cumbria including Penrith, Carlisle, Brampton, Dalston, Kirkby Lonsdale, Sedbergh, Appleby, Kendal, Windermere, Ambleside, Keswick and all other areas of the Lake District.

We are one of only a small number of Cumbrian members of the Association of Professional Landscapers and the Horticultural Trades Association. Quality is paramount to us because we trade on our reputation.

Wildroof completed work on our garden in September 2025. The initial meeting with Steve and Jamie was thorough and we had a very detailed estimate which allowed us to consider options. The work consisted mainly of 3 separate patio areas, lawn and arches. They were able to save us some money by suggesting reuse of some materials. When the work started Zach and Noah were able to incorporate any suggestions we had and kept us up to date with explanations of the work they were doing. They worked incredibly hard through some awful weather to ensure the job was completed in the timescale first proposed. The team were polite and helpful. They clearly enjoyed their work and were easy to have around.

We moved into our new build home in September 2022 with its typical featureless back garden laid to grass with a tricky 1.2m slope on some very heavy wet soil. On the plus side it faced south west and enjoyed all day sun, when it appeared. Having some gardening experience we knew we wanted both flower and foliage plants with year round appeal, were attractive to wildlife and offered a degree of privacy. We needed somewhere to sit, eat and just relax in different areas to make a small garden feel larger. We also wanted a running-water feature, moongate and planters made of rusty Corten steel for its rich colour and texture. To ensure we got the best design and build for our small site we decided to use professional designers and landscapers - Buzy Lizzie & Wildroof. They drafted a few designs which met all our criteria for plants and hard landscaping - a new patio and paths using Indian sandstone, raised beds of Corten steel filled with improved sandier soil which also solved the slope issue, and a mix of trees, shrubs and plants attractive to us and wildlife. Paths were made from Shap blue granite chips. The ornamental birches and rowans added an instant 3-dimensional aspect and improved privacy. They even managed to incorporate our old granite millstone into the new water feature. The landscaping work was completed in 3 weeks as promised and continued everyday regardless of the weather. Wildroof worked tidily and to a very high standard. Some design variations were quickly agreed and implemented as opportunities arose during the build and the work caused minimal disturbance and was relatively stress free - for us anyway. The use of established plants, some of which we already had grown in pots ourselves, gave the garden an instant feeling of some maturity. The garden works perfectly for us and we wouldn’t change anything. There are plants flowering all through the growing season with evergreens for the winter. With an abundance of birds and bees we couldn’t be happier with our ‘instant garden’.

A large patio area with complex drainage problems was laid perfectly. The company thought through all the issues proactively and came up with solutions. They stuck to the agreed timetable. Particularly impressive was the detailed estimate that ensured there would be no surprises. Highly recommended

After engaging Liz of Buzy Lizzie to design a garden on a large new build plot we decided to contract a partner company Wildroof to carry out the landscaping works. From the initial contact with Steve Impey and site visit to discuss the works, a detailed cost assessment was produced. After various minor changes the final works were agreed and finally after a delay because of very wet weather the job started. Josh and his team of Zach, Reece & Noah with a lot of hard work did an amazing transformation from a large bare patch of land to a lovely garden and were a pleasure to work with. This was all carried out to a high standard and included planting from the schedule drawn up by Liz in her original design. The final result is a pleasure to view, work in and enjoy. Many thanks to all involved. Norman & Anne

Wildroof Landscapes were highly recommended and they certainly lived up to our (high) expectations. The team was friendly and helpful, checking on details as the project went on, keeping in touch about timings, deliveries and schedules and generally making the chaos of fairly major landscaping (including repaving the steps to the house) as painless as possible. Even our neighbours commented on their long days, obvious enjoyment of the work and housekeeping. The resulting courtyard garden, transformed from a gravel car park, is exactly what we'd hoped for.

Attention to detail by the operatives was excellent. They were also very friendly, made their own tea and not a swear word in sight. Well done Josh and team.

Wildroof Landscapes undertook a major garden landscaping project for us in the summer of 2022. The design had some challenges to contend with including a significantly downward-sloping garden and an electricity pylon. The team were on site for almost 3 months and did an outstanding job which has totally transformed our outdoor space. The team were extremely hard-working, responsive, well-organised and professional. We are really delighted with the work they have done for us and would have no hesitation in recommending them.
